This is our FINAL GROUP PROJECT FOR THIS SEMESTER~ :D *throws confetti* ♪~congratulations, a celebration~♫

         After coming back from our trip to Pangkor Island, we were buried in tons and TONS of assignments. And also a few end of sem exams. We had to finish off our IDJs and compile them, then hand it in. After we were finished with our other assignments as well, since they were due first, before the game assignment, we could finally start focusing on our life size game. It is... -dan-dan-daaaannn- a maze~ But not just any old normal maze, a maze, with mini games inside. Also, the maze has a theme, as you can probably guess by the name, it is a Christmas theme. There will be two marbles, representing two groups, or two players, and they will have to play through the maze by pushing the marbles through the maze. And if the marble lands and gets stuck on top of a mini game, they will have to play the mini game the marble landed on. Of course, there will be more than one mini game in the whole maze, and each of those mini games is all different. If the player(s) manage to win in the mini game, they can move on to the next maze. The players will have to play like this continuosly throughout the whole maze to get to the finish line. The first team / player to get to the finish line wins the game!! WHEEEEEE~ :D yayyyy end game end gaaammee -oh, is there a prize for the winner, you ask? maaybe... to find out, why don't you come and play our game? :P

Trip to Pangkor Island

   Our latest group assignment is making a life size game. Mr.Charles, our lecturer, had told us about the game long long from the past few months. We had several ideas about what to do but as what we always do, we always change about our idea in the last minute. Mr.Charles did gave us tutorial about the game, we did talk and discuss about it for a several time but then he didn't bring up the life size game topic anymore. We concentrate on doing our IDJ which is the abbreviation of Idea Journal. Few weeks later, we are having a trip, you can call it as an educational trip, to Pangkor Island.
   At Pangkor Island, Our Group, Juxtapose Artist, combine....well you can call it as combine with the The Leads group. We have so much fun but we also have so much burden on trying to crack the mission. The first mission that we get after we had just reach Pangkor Island is that Mr.Charles, which turn to Mr.Black, gave us a piece of paper, containing code which we don't understand. Thanks to Nelson Lim , he break the code and it turned out to be the Mayans Language. Then the next mission is located at another small island that is also located at Pangkor Island which i kinda forgot the name...oopss.... Moving on, at the small island, we are suppose to make a tent that can guard us from rain, storm well the usual condition when we are lost in an island... and it have to be made of natural resources. It is quite hard for our group to make it because almost all the wood had been taken by the other group but in the end we did it and PASSS.. The next thing that we are suppose to make is raft. We had no idea what to use because we got no more material to use so we use our leftover wood and tie it with the leaf and ask Doreen to lay down above it and try it at the sea to see whether it works or not and like usual, our group's idea always work HAHAHA...
  Then we are back at our so called "home" it is a house where we stay during the trip to Pangkor Island. Then at night we are supposed to interview a spirit which is quite crazyyy. Some of the members were quite scared and it is actually quite creepy because it is late at night already, but nevertheless, we still did it and Passed. The next day, we got to go and see the Tiger Rock , the legendary rock that been said to had been growing till now. It is huge and has a carving of a tiger carrying a baby just like what people had said about it. On the last day we are supposed to make a conclusion about what happened to Allan Tagman. We did have several conclusions but we told them one of it and it is not even close to the real conclusion T_T...
   Not to be sad, at night time , we go to the beach to see the blue sand, it's actually sand and got the reflection of the moonlight. Then we go cycling and chat and chat and chat till morning, we have fun time and we actually didn't sleep and wait for the sunrise at the port. We cycle there and after seeing the sunrise, we cycle back to our house and have breakfast then we're back to Taylor's University by bus. We reach Taylor's University quite late , all were so tired and all go back to their own house, BYE BYE...

Music Video Presentation

        For our challage 2, we were tasked to come up with our own music video using metaphors and the the ideas and mind maps we have done based on the theme ' what can you do with and underwear. Our team came up with using the underwear as a teapot cosy, by following this direction, we did some research and we found out that as time pass on, the purpose of tea pot cosy changed from keeping a teapot warm to making the teapot 'wear nice clothe' to make them look more attractive. So by following this direction, we came up with the metaphor: people tends to judge something based on the apearance. This is the Link to our video: Teapot Warmer ( Juxtapose Artist )

Underwear.......

           On the previous lecture, Mr.Charles showed us an effective way of creating a mind map using different color markers. Each color represent a aspect, red represent the feelings, green represent the possibilities, blue represent the consequences, yellow represent the positive/advantage, black represent negativity and white represent the research done on that subject. By using this method we were given a class activity to draw out a mind map based on the topic what can you do with an underwear. He gave us a limited time period to come up with the whole idea. After that, based on the mind map and decision we make, we are required to make a music video out of the concept 'what can you do with and underwear'.

THE POTATIA & POTATO GOD

           Based on the interpretation for the metaphor, we have come up witht his tory/ slash reality called The Potatia & The Potato God. The story goes like this :


           When the humans were 1st born into the world, they were weak and had a short lifespan, born only to die within a few days. After seeing how terrible the human had suffers, the compasion Potato God decent and bestow upon them the 3 pillars of infinite potato, by eating these unlimited supplies of potato, the human became healthy and their life span has been extend. The thank the potato god, worship and give offering to the potato god as the potato god has allow the human to live longer. However, as time passed, the human began to take the unlimited supplies of potato for granted adn started to misused it. The human twisted the healthy potato into junk food, which damage their health and shorten their life span, however the huamn doesn't care and continue misusing it, the Potato god was sadden by the humans, he ascend to the heaven and forsake the human.....


          This story shows how something that was meant to be good can also be used in a bad way, and how human are not grateful with what they have.

Lecture On Mental Images

             Today's lecture on Cts is all about mental images, mental images are images that activate and trigger through various part of sensory realism such as seeing, touching, tasting, hearing, smelling and sometimes come from emotions.

             There are a different mental images and one of them are memory images, these images are historical images, captured as an evidence of the past events. These images my be in the form of photos or our own memory stored inside our brain.
             

            Next mental images we were introduced to are Imaginary Images, image that is produced through our imagination. Like how kids sometimes imagine cloud as floting cotton candy in the sky, cracks on the floor as fissure and so on. These images are not images that we see through our eyes but are images produced by imagination.

          There are also Hypnagogic images, these images are images we see, scenario we experience and hallucination we felt through various means : lucid dream, twilight zone and sensory phenomena. It can also be triggered by using drugs to cause hallucination. 

                                

         Next is after images, these images are optical illusion that refers to an image continuing to appear in one's vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. 

       

       Mental images can also be produced with the eidetic ability, people gifted with the eidetic ability are like a human camera, they are able to capture the scenery in their mind and translate in on paper.

       

1st group assignment!!

        The 1st CTS group assignment is here!!! We were given 2 option do use it as reference: I, Robot and Foundation by Issac Asimov, and based on these references we must interpret it into 3D form. My group the Juxtapose Artist decide to use I, Robot as reference, we read the summary of each book and we also look through the moives I, Robot staring Will Smith. After the research we each come up with some ideas, concept and mind map to show Mr.Charles during the group tutorial in starbucks, he picked out some of the more interesting ones and give us some advice. When he looked through those mind map, he also challange Chong Han Xien, our group representative to read some of Salman Rushdie's book and try to understand it.

     

1st Idea Journal

           Sorry for the late update, the person who was assign to do it has internet issues. This post is about our 1st idea journal assesment. We were all asked to gather and meet up Mr.Charles at the Starbucks, some of us went a bit too early and end up having fun there. Some of our classmate also used that time to compare and improve their IDJ, we took some photos (to be upload soon, due to the photo is with person who was assign to update this post have some internet issue). We waited quite long so Kush, our class representative decide to call Mr.Charles, turn out he were so caught up with his other works he forgot XD.

This were supposed to be update on the wednesday before the Hari Raya Week, but due to some technical issues it was delayed~ XD

On that week our group presented our group concept, colour theme, goals and jinggles. No video for our presentation~ sorry, we forgot to ask someone to help us videotape it when we were presenting our group concept.

Jingle, Juxtapose Artist Style~

               
   
            Today is supposed to be a day for all of us to rest, but on this day the Juxtapose Artist gathered at the school 10 am in the morning, why you asked? Well because they are hardworking! (just kidding) We didn't get to finish it on Friday so we need to work too even on Saturday. Today we worked on our jingles, it was hard for us at 1st because none of us have an idea of how is it a jingle is supposed to be. We searched the internet, but its still hard because it is not easy to come up with a melody and the lyrics. We refrence on different kind of music videos and advertisement musics, we also tried searching for words that 'sounds nice', but in the end our results are pretty simply and short. But we have not finalize it yet since we think it could still use some improvements. We also discuss on the costume but due to some of the members having to go back to their home town we were not able to make decision on the costume yet.

1st Tutorials On CTS For NEWBIES!!

                Today was our 1st tutorial class for CTS( creative thinking skills), we were supposed to meet Mr.Charles in the Academic Suite Discussion Room 1 on the 9th floor. But when we reach there Mr.Charles was no where to be found, we asked the staff but they do not know as well. So we decide to wait outside the room, conversation starts as we wait for Mr.Charles and some of our classmate even start to play some games. But some of them got tired of waiting so they decide to call Mr.Charles, but we didn't have Mr.Charles contact number and the only one that has it is our class representative Kush. He was not in campus during our wait for Mr.Charles, (we found out that he was stuck in a traffic jam with Nelson, David and Marc on their way back to campus) but he called him anyways to comfirm with Mr. Charles the venue of the tutorial class. 

               After we called Mr.Charles, he asked us to wait for him at the outdoor Pj lecture hall (not sure what is it called). Most of us are actually glad that he decide to go there because the open space and breeze were very relaxing (so relaxing that some of them almost fell asleep). There he told us what we should prepare for this tutorial class and he prefer outdoor or at least a coffee shop as venue for our tutorial class. Then he brief about the process and activities of CTS which end up quite a speech.  After that, he started to take down our group names, group members, and the group's blog address as a part of assignment of that tutorial class. After he recorded every group's information, he dismiss us fromt he class, although some of us stay and discuss about the blogs and group concept. 


            And that is pretty much what happens during the CTS tutorial classs.

                                                      Introduction

       

               The primary concept of our group name is that before feeling satisfied with your product or so called 'masterpieces' we should always make a comparison for it to reflect upon its contrast and other possibilities, this will ensure more improvement and growth not only in our designing skills but also widen our views and creativity. Hence the name, Juxtapose. Aside from that, we also priorities freedom and self expression. It is very important for a designer to express themselves by channeling that emotion and use it as a concept or a source of creativity. Hence the name, Juxtapose Artist. The aim of our group is to share and compare our knowledge and skills to help each other improve. Our group consist of 5 people:

Get To Know Our Group And Members

                    First And foremost, before the finalization of our group set up, we had an exchange of member between Marc-henri David and Clarin Christy, the reason of this exchange is because Clarin feels comfortable working with Evelyn Harianto and therefore she requested to exchange groups with Marc-henri David. The reason she choose Marc-henri David to exchange is because she thinks Marc-henri David has a common interest and seems to be more communicative with Clarin Christy's previous group members. Marc-henri David also agreed to this changes.

                  

                 Juxtapose, is a group or so called 'tribe' of people that tend to work with someone they feel comfortable with so that they can achieve better efficiency . This is proven by the fact that the bond between Evelyn and Clarin allows them to open themselves up and be more communicative and share their ideas or thoughts with the rest of the group. Zackery is also comfortable working with the rest of the group and he is on good terms with Evelyn and Clarin. Doreen is more of an easy-going type of girls and she has also stated that she is comfortable with the group set up even before the exchange of members between Clarin And Marc. Next is Samuel, he tends to start a conversation or a discussion if the group is in an awkward situation, hence he was chosen as group representative.
